Development of Steve Bird Winery & Vineyards business in key Asian export markets reached a key milestone recently when we received the first order for MANU brand wines from our new distributor in Hong Kong.
The company has concluded a distribution agreement for the MANU brand with Via Pacifica Selections Hong Kong, a business headed by David Duckhorn, with whom Steve Bird Wines has had a long-standing association.
The order includes all the MANU varieties; Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, Gisborne Pinot Gris, Marlborough Pinot Noir and Hawke’s Bay Merlot Cabernet. This first order is destined for Hong Kong and Macau with subsequent shipments moving into mainland China almost immediately.
Chief Winemaker and Managing Director, Steve Bird will visit Hong Kong, Macau, Shanghai and Beijing in November this year to launch both brands in market with their respective importers.
Steve was last in China in 1989, as a young consultant winemaker, seconded to a wine production facility with connections to the Chinese People’s Liberation Army. “It’s been a while and things have changed there. I’m really looking forward to seeing for myself, just how much!”
