Over the past 20 years Riesling has become an extremely fashionable variety for New Zealand wine drinkers. Of all the classic white wine grapes Riesling is possibly the most versatile, with wines ranging in style from austere and bone dry to seductive honey sweet dessert wines.

2006 Riesling - Tasting Note:

A fine and elegant wine with extremely attractive floral, citrus blossom aromas. The keen acidity gives the palate a real zesty lift. Flavours of ripe fresh fruit and hints of lime are evident. This is a refined Riesling that, while generous in flavour as a young wine, will reward those who choose to give it some time in the cellar.

New Zealand has proven itself capable of producing outstanding quality Riesling across the entire spectrum of styles.

Due to its tendency to ripen late, the variety responds best to areas that have long dry autumns. Marlborough is ideally suited for this purpose, producing 55% of New Zealand's Riesling.
